Yes Man is an upcoming 2008 American film directed by Peyton Reed and starring Jim Carrey. The film is based on the true story and 2005 biography ‘Yes Man’ by British humorist Danny Wallace. Production began in Los Angeles, CA in October 2007.

A guy challenges himself to say “yes” to everything for an entire year. Carl Allen (Jim Carrey) is challenged to say yes to everything that comes his way in his life for one whole year, leading to a series of comic events. A man signs up for a self-help program based on one simple principle: say yes to everything… and anything. At first, unleashing the power of “yes” transforms his life in amazing and unexpected ways, but he soon discovers that opening up his life to endless possibilities can have its drawbacks.

Danny Wallace, being of sound mind and body, do hereby write this manifesto for my life. I swear I will be more open to opportunity. I swear I will live my life taking every available chance. I will say Yes to every favour, request, suggestion and invitation. I will swear to say yes where once I would say no.’

Danny Wallace had been staying in. Far too much. Having been dumped by his girlfriend, he really wasn’t doing the young, free and single thing very well. Instead, he was avoiding people. Texting them instead of calling them. Calling them instead of meeting them. That is until that one fateful date when a mystery man on a late-night bus told him to ‘Say Yes more’. These three simple words changed Danny’s life forever.

“Yes Man” is the story of what happened when Danny decided to say yes to everything, in order to make his life more interesting. And boy, did it get more interesting.

Jim Carrey is receiving no money upfront for his role in the movie. He will instead be paid based on the movie’s success. During shooting of a scene where Carrey’s character bungee jumps off a bridge, Carrey asked to do the stunt himself. Carrey stated to the stunt double that he intended to do it in one take. When he jumps off, he is seen taking out a cell phone for the scene.

The film’s soundtrack will feature original music by Munchausen by Proxy, the band to which Jim Carrey’s character is incessantly invited to see by an over-eager manager/street promoter. Along with female lead Zooey Deschanel, the fictional band was created by Von Iva. The San Francisco-based all-girl power trio of vocals, keyboards and drums were hired to collaborate with the actress to write and perform the original songs and stylized aesthetic of the group for this pivotal scene.
