Wild Child is a 2008 drama film directed by Nick Moore and is set to release in August 15, 2008. It stars Emma Roberts as a rebellious teen from Malibu sent to an English boarding school by her dad. The film was filmed in Los Angeles, California, and on location in Cobham Hall, Kent and Balls Park, Hertford, England. Emma Roberts dyed her hair dark brown for this role, however for the beginning part of the film she wears a long, blonde wig. The wrap party was held on September 4, 2007 in London, before some of the cast went to Los Angeles to finish filming. Also children from surrounding schools were selected to be extras in scenes on location at Balls Park, Hertford. Oxford University Lacrosse and Cranbrook Lacrosse Club provided a group of lacrosse playing extras and some referees for the film. It premiered at the Braehead Xscape in Glasgow, Scotland.
Sixteen year old Poppy Moore (Emma Roberts) has always got what she wanted and lives a pampered life in her L.A. world. Though she's handed credit cards with unlimited balances and surrounded by countless hangers on, Poppy can't escape the mounting frustration she feels with her family situation. And she makes sure everyone knows it. After an over-the-top prank pushes her father (Aidan Quinn) one step too far, Poppy is shipped of to an English boarding school. Finding herself in a foreign world of early curfews, stern matrons, and mandatory lacrosse, the American princess has finally met her match: a school of British girls who won't tolerate her rebellious ways. Under the watchful eye of the school's headmistress (Natasha Richardson) and surrounded by a new circle of friends (Josie, Kate, Kiki & Drippy), Poppy begrudgingly realizes her bad-girl behavior will only get her so far. But just because she must grow into a fine young lady doesn't mean this Wild Child won't be spending every waking hour shaking up a very proper system, but she soon realises that doing so won't get her what she wants, and, soon, what shes does to to get herself expelled is the reason she wants to stay.
