Soul Men is an American musical-dramedy film directed by Malcolm D. Lee. It stars Samuel L. Jackson, Bernie Mac, Sean Hayes, Jennifer Coolidge and Isaac Hayes, who appears as himself. It is currently in post-production and set to be released on November 7, 2008. Both Isaac Hayes and Bernie Mac died in unrelated circumstances during the weekend beginning August 9, 2008.

The movie has been rated R by the MPAA for pervasive language and sexual content, including nudity. Director Malcolm D. Lee said the film was heavily re-edited to soften the tone of the film, as a tribute to Mac and Hayes. “A Walk In The Park”, a song performed by Bernie Mac, Samuel L. Jackson and Sharon Leal, from the film has been released as a single on the film’s website.

Two former backup soul singers, Louis (Samuel L. Jackson) and Floyd (Bernie Mac) who have not spoken to each other in 20 years reluctantly agree to travel across the country together to a reunion concert to honor their recently deceased lead singer (John Legend). Cleo (Sharon Leal), a beautiful young woman, who is believed to be Floyd’s daughter, accompanies them as the new lead singer. Though it’s been some twenty years since they have spoken with one another, two estranged soul-singing legends agree to participate in a reunion performance at the Apollo Theater to honor their recently deceased band leader.
