Paul Blart: Mall Cop is an 2009 American comedy film staring Kevin James and Jayma Mays. It is set for release on January 16, 2009. The film started shooting in late March 2008. The movie began shooting in Boston. Principal shooting took place at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, Massachusetts. From late March until mid-April, the mall and its stores were decorated with Christmas decorations, and there was a large prop ball-pit in the main foyer of the mall.
Shooting took place mostly at night. The South Shore Plaza in Braintree, Massachusetts was the location of subsequent shooting. The cop is played by Kevin James with Keir O’Donnell as his counterpart. Ugly Betty recurring star Jayma Mays plays James’ love interest. The film is directed by Steve Carr.
When a shopping mall is overtaken by a gang of organized crooks, it’s up to the a mild-mannered security guard to save the day. Clumsy mall security guard Paul Blart (Kevin James) has been rejected for the position of police officer several times, but now he must deal with a hostage situation in the West Orange Pavilion Mall.
