Aliens in the Attic (formerly known as They Came from Upstairs) is an feature film starring Robert Hoffman, Ashley Tisdale, Carter Jenkins, Henri Young, Regan Young, and Austin Butler. The film was scheduled to be released on February 13, 2009 but the film’s release date has been pushed back to July 31, 2009. The first trailer of the film was released on October 23, 2008. The previous title of the film, “They Came from Upstairs” is now the film’s tagline.

The Pearson family (Ashley Tisdale, Kevin Nealon, Carter Jenkins) think they have got the ultimate family vacation as they head to their vacation home in Maine. However, soon after arriving to the house, they discover that they are not the only people staying in it since a friendly alien has found the house first. Though the alien is friendly, his friends are not, and they are ready to invade the house. The kids (Henri Young, Regan Young) have to gear up and defend their vacation house with everything they have or else the aliens will probe them out to space and destroy the world.

Ashley Tisdale’s involvement in the film was confirmed in January, 2008 as she was cast as Bethany Person. Aside from Tisdale, it was later confirmed that Robert Hoffman, Carter Jenkins, Austin Butler and the Emmy-winner Doris Roberts were cast for the film. MTV confirmed that Josh Peck joined the cast as the voice actor of the alien Sparks.

The filming began at the end of January 2008 in Auckland, New Zealand. The film was set in a rambling old villa transported from Remuera to a farm in North Auckland. Security is tight, and film-makers have asked to keep the location secret but Tisdale’s fans still managed to find the star filming at Narrow Neck Beach. The main shooting ended in mid-March, 2008. Tisdale, Austin Butler and Carter Jenkins went back to the set to shoot last-minutes scenes for the film on April, 2009.

John Debney composed the original score for the film. Ashley Tisdale also recorded a song titled “Switch” for the film, and it is also included in her second album. On the trailer, “Eye of the Tiger” by Sullivan Peterik is featured.

A video game based on Aliens in the Attic will be released July 28, 2009, developed by Revistronic and published by Playlogic. The game will feature the storyline of the film and it will be available for Nintendo DS, Wii, PlayStation 2 and Windows PC. The game will also offer players two different gameplay perspectives depending upon which video game platform players choose.

For Wii, PlayStation 2 and Windows PC players, it is available a whole new way to experience the storyline by allowing them to assume the identity of one of four different alien explorer, featuring fifteen levels. For Nintendo DS, the game puts players in the shoes of the movie’s main characters and you play with their abilities to rid the planet from the invaders.
